Packing a three-piece set

Most of the sets in the drawer follow the same structure: one main case plus two smaller detachable pouches that hook or velcro in. The habit worth building is sorting by function, not by size -- liquids and anything that could leak in one pouch, brushes and anything sharp in the other, and everything upright and solid in the main case.

Because the pouches detach, you can also split a single set across a carry-on and a checked bag, or hand one pouch to a travel partner, without breaking up the rest of the kit.
